Steven Paul has had a successful career thus far as a Singer/Songwriter. To see his over the years Career Poster click here. He was born and raised in Kansas City. As a young boy he was drawn in by country music. He remembers many road trips, listening and singing along with his Dad to old tapes of Marty Robbins and Roger Miller. He began playing guitar as a teenager, and at the young age of 17 he began a career as a solo act entertaining in restaurants and clubs. He went on to become a First Place Winner in the "Marlboro Country Music Contest". He also coordinated and become the lead singer in the country band called "The Timberland Band". The band became a winner of the"61 Country-WDAF Radio Country Music Contest". From there his career took him to Nashville, Tennessee where he performed both in the band and as a solo act at many venues around town, including the "Opryland Hotel". Over the past decade, he has shared the Gospel and his music in the fair circuit and at various churches and other venues throughout Missouri, Kansas and Arkansas, etc.
His songwriting became more and more sufficient after being taken under the wings of his dad's cousin, "John E. (Pap) McCollum" (writer of songs cut by John Michael Montgomery, Toby Keith, etc.). With the help of John he finished writing all the songs for his 'Cowboy Boots' CD which was produced by Kent Wells and recorded at "2 Monkeys Productions". It was mixed by "Kevin Beamish" and mastered by Benny Quinn at "Masterfonics". He just released his final song "God is here to stay" off his latest CD, "One Nation under God'. Through God's grace the song settled in at #2.
Steven Paul has opened for various national acts such as: Joe Diffie, Dwight Yoakam , George Strait, Hank Williams J., Ricky Skaggs, Michael Martin Murphy, Ty Hearndon, Michael Peterson, Moe Bandy, The Kendalls, Little Jimmy Dickens
Steven Paul has spent many hours in the recording co-producing and producing his own CDs. He engineered and mixed his last CD, "One Nation Under God" using Pro Tools. Over the years he's developed an ear for tracking, mixing and mastering.
Over the years Steven Paul has performed Country, Christian Country, and Gospel music in clubs, at fairs and in a variety of other venues. He has performed as a solo act and with various bands.
Steven begin writing songs at the age of 16 but really gained an understanding of song writing when he began to partner up with his Dad's first cousin, "John E. (Pap) McCollum. He appreciates all the knowledge his 2nd cousin poured into him that has made him the songwriter he is today. As a results he has had multiple songs make it into the top 10 on the nationwide CCMA music charts
He began playing acoustic guitar at the age of 16. After a few tips from friends he learned to play on his own. He has mastered various strumming techniques, finger picking styles, and plays some lead.
He has given beginners and intermediate guitar lessons over the years. Steven played all the acoustic parts on his last CD, "One Nation Under God".
